- Do I need to get my voltage indicator and proving unit calibrated?
-
As a manufacturer, we recommend a yearly calibration of voltage indicators and proving units from a traceable calibration lab. The items can be calibrated individually or both calibrated as a system.
- Do your VIs come with a certificate of conformity?
-
Not as Standard. But we can provide one for free if requested at the point of order.
- Will the 50v LED will light up on the VI13800, if it detects a source of 12 volts?
-
No, the VI13800 will start to illuminate around 42V but will not illuminate at such a small voltage of 12V.
- Can I use your proving unit with other manufacturers voltage indicators?
-
Yes, Martindale proving units can be used with other manufacturer’s voltage indicators. Always remember to match the output of the proving unit to prove the full range of the voltage indicator you are trying to prove.
- Can I use a proving unit with my multifunction tester?
-
Yes, a proving unit can be used with a multifunction tester to check the voltage measurement function. Most testers have a maximum input voltage of 500V to 600V so should not be over proved at a higher voltage.
The Martindale PD440SRDX 440V proving device is ideal and also features CALCHECK for verifying low resistance ranges.
