Portable appliance testing isn’t just about avoiding injuries and fatalities from contact with faulty and dangerous electrical appliances, it can also help to reduce the incidence of electrical fires. In fact, more than half of all fires are caused by electricity and 80% of these by appliances and electrical products, many of which could be prevented.

It’s easy to get started with electrical safety checks on Class I and Class II appliances and leads with the lightweight HPAT Series of handheld testers. All models have been designed for ease of use with one button automatic testing and ultimate portability. The compact design with bright backlit display, provides the perfect solution for testing in all locations, particularly under a desk or behind a monitor, where lighting may be restricted. Testing in accordance with the latest IET Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment is straight forward.

HPAT400 shows PASS / FAIL results and connection instructions on the tester

The latest edition to the range, the HPAT400 is an affordable, battery powered device which simplifies testing further by just displaying PASS or FAIL at the end of the automatic test with no need for the user to interpret test values. Connection instructions on the tester means it’s always quick to get up to speed even when testing infrequently.

HPAT500 displays test values in addition to PASS / FAIL indicators

For applications which require combining simple PASS/FAIL with actual test values, the HPAT500 is ideal and now features an additional 250V insulation test voltage, making it suitable for testing surge protected devices. For earth bond testing all models use a low current of 200mA to avoid potential damage to sensitive I.T equipment. For added convenience, the HPAT500 is mains rechargeable for reduced running costs and can be operated from the mains via the supplied charger to ensure no down time on-site.

HPAT 600 provides diagnostic capability and variable limits

Where both automatic one button testing plus single test selection for diagnostics is required the HPAT600 ticks all the boxes. In addition, the HPAT600 includes a run test for checking the integrity of the fuse and that the appliance is switched on prior to testing. Pass levels can be easily adjusted for testing appliances with long power cords or long extension leads. The HPAT600 also has memory to store the test results of up to 200 appliances for on-screen recall when required.

The HPATs feature a new colour coded user interface with clear connection instructions on the tester or on screen, making operation simple, every time.

HPAT500 in Test & Go carry case with accessories

All three models come supplied in a practical ‘Test & Go’ carry case, with space for accessories, meaning valuable time is saved as there is no need to unpack and repack the testers when taking measurements.
